Strange things are happening in the valley at the moment. I don't know what exactly, but the skies are strange looking, and I swear the air smells funny. BP laughed at me when I said that. But there was a time in the drought when I swore a new drum of Molasses we bought smelt funny. I don't know if he couldn't smell it or didn't want to smell something wrong with it, after the money he had just forked out for 1000litres of molasses! Anyway long story short, the cattle refused to eat it, or anything touched by it. He finally agreed to take it back, the manager smelt it and dry-wretched all the way to get us a fresh container. Turned out it hadn't been washed out properly from the last thing that had been in it, some sort of raspberry flavoured...err, something. So the moral of this story is if I think something smells funny, I'm trusting it!!!
We very rarely have 'smelly air' out here, we are so far away from any coal mines (thankfully!) the trees soak up the smells. I still can't put my finger on what I smelt today, the air looked and smelt smoggy even, very very strange especially since there were no winds!
On a much happier note, look at my harvests this afternoon! These photos were taken within 5 minutes of everything yo see being picked! And all completely organic!!! =D
Cucumber, a little tomato, beans, silverbeet and corn!
My first corn! Okay...okay...it grew in one of BP's beds...but I still call it mine!!! YUMMO!!!

Gecko, you're living my dream life. Thanks for sharing with those of us trapped in the suburbs :-)
Nice to meet you! Your veggies are fab. I hope to have a small garden this year. I live in the burbs - so we will see.
